I received a call one day from a gentleman wanting to hirer us to take photographs of his son's championship football game. I said of course when is it and where is it? When he told me it was going to be in Notre Dame's football stadium, I almost cheered over the phone! We love photographing in that place. The history alone makes it a wondrous place to be let alone photograph a football game.
The championship game was between Keenan Hall and Sorin Hall, and from the above picture you can guess who won the game. It was a perfect November day for football; the air was still but brisk, no rain or snow in the forecast, and since it was a night game, the sun was not in anyone's eyes.
The fans on both sides of the field cheered for their respective teams, and even though the stadium wasn't packed to capacity, you would not have known it by the deafening sound coming from the fans.

Dawn, myself and Rob Miller had a great time photographing the game as you might be able to tell in the photographs below. We do enjoy working with each other, it is nice to be able to work with people you like and get along with. We split up the duties, Rob took the Sorin team and I took the Keenan team and we both payed attention to the certain players we were hired to photograph. Dawn had free rain to do whatever she wanted and to be creative. She has a good eye for detail and for the emotional side of events. We are a good team of photographers.

Keenan Hall takes the field.
What a rush it must have been for these young men to be able to run out of the tunnel that so many football greats in the past have ran through; Paul Hornung, John Lujack, Angelo Bertelli, Leon Hart, Johnny Lattner, Tim Brown, Joe Theismann & Joe Montana just to name a few of the greats. Of course there are two that had movies made of their stores, George Gipp, and Rudy Ruettiger, they also ran through that tunnel.

Being a season Notre Dame football ticket holder for the past 45 years (OK, the years 2-10 I don't remember much) I have seen a lot of great football in the "House That Rockne Built" and the interhall players played with just as much intensity as their varsity counterparts. The passing came with tight spirals and the receivers leaped as high as they needed to catch each pass, the runners ran with as much muscle and speed as they could and the tacklers tackled with the intensity of an NFL linebacker. Everyone played all out in this game, as it should have been.

What would collegate football be without the love and support of the girlfriend?!...

...Sometimes that support comes at unexpected times!
We would like to thank both Keenan Hall and Sorin Hall as well as the Notre Dame intramural sports department for allowing us the privilege of documenting their championship game. Dawn, Rob and myself enjoyed the experience immensely and we enjoyed the energy of the participants and fans. We hope to see you next year.
