Photographing Friends

Photographing friends is one of the joys of photography...at least to me.  For one thing, you know your friends...and a good photographer should always know their subject. You know their moods, you know their mannerisms, you know when they are about to do something in time to actually take the picture at the right time!

Another thing that I love about taking pictures of my friends is that I know that they are going to appreciate the image when the see it.  (If it comes out and I actually show it to them that is.)  Knowing that, in advance, almost makes the whole process worth while all on its own.  But there is more to it than just that.  Taking a good image and then being appreciated for it, are two of my favorite things in life.  Seeing the expression on my friends face when they see it is another.  Watching them show the image to their friends is another.

The fact that I am with my friends is a yet another reason for me to take pictures of them.  I mean, come on, they are my friends after all and I like being with them so, that in itself makes me happy.  I think we need more friends in our lives, life can be lonely enough on its own.

Lastly, the thing I like about taking pictures of my friends, is that if the image doesn't come out, they won't hate me...for long.
