Trash Compactor

We love doing Commercial Photography, especially on location where we get to go places and see knew things.  Today we were headed to a national Recreational Vehicle (RV) manufacturer at the request of a company located in California.  They called us and asked if we could meet one of their representatives out-in-the-field at one of their customers and take pictures, for their marketing brochure, of a new piece of equipment they were now selling.  We were happy to, and we scheduled the date. 

A couple of days before our schedule shoot date, they asked if we could move it up a few days as the weather forcast looked like it would be bad, we agreed and moved the date up a few days.  This was good and bad; it was good because the weather did get bad and on those days it rained/sleeted.  It was bad because the day of the shoot it was -8 degrees and I had to be up in a ladder!  I wore several layers of clothing and wore my insulated boots that day, but even though I had on warm gloves my trigger hand was cold and numb.  Having a number hand is bad because not only is it difficult to push the shutter button it is also difficult to change any of the camera settings.  I opened up a hand warmer packet and stuck it inside my glove and it worked like a charm, I could feel my fingers again, coming prepared is a good thing!

The trash compactor was an interesting machine.  It is basically a rolling ball on a steel arm that us used to smash and pack down debre in a roll-off trash container.  It backs up to the container extends its arm and starts smaching and compacting down the trash in the container, then after its done, drives off to the next container and repeats the process.

I shot the mobile compactor from several angles, including up on the ladder, as well as shooting some video also to show the device in action.  It actually is an impressive piece of equipment.
