Looks Like You Made It!
Sometimes it is just good to know people. I was asked by a friend to help photograph a new TV pilot. The pilot was called "Looks Like You Made It" and it was a country singing competition however there were some non country singers as well. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to photograph I immediately jumped at the chance and said: "yes!"
Rob and Joe Miller (no relation) and I drove down to Piere's Entertainment Center in Ft. Wayne, IN the morning of the taping of the show. The show is to air sometime the following fall, so at the time of this posting I have not seen the finished work. When we arrived at the facility, the production crew was just unloading their equipment and setting up. We checked in, got our credentials and started to look around the facility and scoping out the best shooting locations and angles. Piere's is a large night club with multiple rooms, bars and levels, a very impressive venue.
Joe, Rob and I sat down at a table in the back of the room and started to put together a game plan for how and where to photograph the event. Once that was done, we just waited for the contestants to show up and for the show to begin. The show started at 4pm and ended at midnight, so we were there for a full day of photographing, as we arrived around 8:00 in the morning. That is just all in a good day's work for a working photographer.
It was a great show and competition and we all had a great time photographing it, even though it was a challenge to get good angles and shots of each and everyone of the contestants, but we did it and the hard work payed off. UPDATE: As of today 1-15-2013, the producers are viewing the final cut of the program, so soon we all should be able to watch on a TV channel near us! I'll keep you posted!
