Surprise Birthday in the Park

St. Pat’s park is a a nice little park that Dawn and I go to generally to watch plays as they have a very nice summer eve theater production company.  There is a large stage in a barn looking building and all the viewers sit on blankets or folding chairs on a hill overlooking that stage.  However, this time I was there all alone, as Dawn was off photographing a bridal shower, and it was daytime with no thespians on stage.  Today I was photographing the Corthier family.  They called us up as we were recommended one of their friends who had us photograph not only their family portraits, but also one of their children’s weddings.  (We love word of mouth recommendations!!)

Mary and her husband John, decided that they would surprise their mother with a party on her birthday and since the whole family would be there they thought it would be a good time to have their family portrait taken.  Apparently it was a good surprise as when she arrived, she did not want to get out of the car, but when she did she had a big smile on her face!  Had I known it was her 80th birthday, I probably would not have had them skip in one of the shots!  

It was a lovely day, and a lovely family to photograph.

I will admit, that the skipping were my favorite shots.  Everyone was having real fun and it showed on their faces and in the photographs.  There is nothing better than photographing people having real fun, and if they had taken my picture, it would have shown me having fun as well.
