Quarter Auction Time

We are participating in our very first “Quarter Auction” tonight!  

What is a “Quarter Auction?”  Well, a group of unique (no competing products allowed) vendors get together in one big hotel banquet room and set up booths to show their products and services off. People coming in get a auction paddle with a number on it and walk around the room looking at things.  Then, while they all sit at tables and eat and drink snakes, brought by the vendors, items submitted by the vendors are auctioned off one at a time.  

They way they hold the auction is that each item is given a quarter rating from 1 to 4, so the more valuable items will get 4 and if someone wants to bid for that item they put 4 quarters ($1) into a basket placed out on each table and raise their paddle in the air.  

After all the money in each basket is collected then numbers are drawn out of a master bucket containing all the numbers matching the numbers on the paddles handed out. The first to have their number picked and who is holding their paddle up, wins that auction for that item.

All the money collected for that item, from the baskets on the table, goes back to the vendor.

We are auctioning off several framed pictures along with gift certificates for free photo sessions and prints.  We will see how well it goes for us, and we will report back later.
