There is a picture going around in the news lately that has a cute couple trying to take a picture of themselves with a scenic mountain lake behind them, when a little squirrel jumped into the picture and the camera focused on him instead of them.  It made national news and spread across the internet like wildfire.

Well, we found a website called the squirrelizer that allows you to give it the URL of a picture and it will add the famous squirrel to it.  We have been adding them to several pictures of our friends and posting them to Facebook.  Our friends think they re hilarious!

This brings me to what I want to type about in this blog entry; that in some cases the total is greater then the sum of the parts.  

What I mean is that in many instances it is the emotion that a picture brings to a viewer that counts.  You can take an average picture and by simply adding a funny character, like a squirrel, that completely makes the viewer respond to the picture.  Even though they know that the squirrel was added in post production, they don’t care, it is the initial understanding of the picture that makes it create the kind of response that all photographers want, in this case laughter.
